Anyone missed me? Guess not. :]
The expedition was great. Lots of WATER. Unfortunately most of it was pretty much salty. Here's the stuff:
First day of expedition, 23/11/09(Monday)
Went to the Budget Terminal pretty early and had my lunch there with my family. Turned out that we were supposed to have lunch AFTER we checked in. So... yeah, had an early lunch that day. Ms Lim gave us a whistle each before we got in. Apparently it's for signalling that there's a problem when we're paddling...
When the plane lifted off the ground, some of the girls suddenly screamed. The rest of us just... laughed like hell. :D
The plane ride was kinda fun. Except that when I finally got off, my ears were hurting. (Oh so sorry, I've never taken a plane before.) That went away after I blew my nose though. LOL.
We went to this pleasant place in Krabi called the Coconut Home. The huts were tiny and they were crawling with bugs, but eventually Haressh, Benjamin, Damien and I got used to it. After getting our stuff ready, all of us went to this fair quite far away from the Home. And lucky us, the fair was there for only five to six days. We just happened to be there.
Noting much happened during the trip, except that Syafiq, Damien, Manoj and I had stalked Ms Lim and Mr Teo(quoting from myself, "LIKE NINJAS!") and that we watched them drink "adult chrysanthemum tea"(guess? haha)...
We went back rather late, and the four of us Sec 3 guys tried going to sleep on the queen-sized bed. Damien took a blanket and slept on the floor halfway through the night, saying that it was "more comfortable". Sheesh...
Second day of expedition, 24/11/09(Tuesday)
--@ 2:41a.m.--
All four of us woke up suddenly, at 2:41. WEIRD. Only after 3 could we finally get to sleep. Crappy...
--@ approx. 6a.m.--
Woke up with a nice start. Benji didn't wanna get up... but Resshy and I had our ways. Got ready, and assembled at 6:30. After breakfast(which Felicia didn't like because of the onions), we got our Dry Packs and carried the 33kg tri-yaks down to the shoreline. NOT FUN. We started our not-so-little island-hopping journey with Huey leading the way and "TC" as the Sweeper at the back. After.... alot of pain with Damien and the 10km Crossing*, we had our lunch on a little island. After that we just paddled some more and went back to the beach near the Coconut Home in the evening. Dinner was.... okay. We went to sleep soon after.
*- A Crossing is a route which a person can paddle through in the ocean, and has no islands to rest on on the way - it's sort of like a one-way trip...
Third day of expedition, 25/11/09(Wednesday)
We didn't have problems sleeping this time. From what Joel told Haressh, we weren't the only ones who woke up near 3 the day before. Resshy said that maybe it was like "The Happening". I sort of covered my ears and told him to shut up.
After the first day of paddling which Huey said the distance was around 25km, I had lost most of my enthusiasm to continue paddling. I paired up with Joel since he said that the name he wrote down in the pre-camp reflection for "Who I want to know more during the camp" was mine. It was a lot more fun than with Damien, although it was probably because on this day we paddled lesser and with less haste. We played around more and went to a "hidden lagoon" where I and some others started capsizing other kayaks with Huey's suggestion. Even Ms Lim and Mr Teo's kayak wasn't spared... >=D
On this day, Syafiq and I found out the stories behind the three staff at the Coconut Home. Kind of... interesting lives they have...
Fourth day of expedition, 26/11/09(Thursday)
We had camped on a more "civilized" island(as I had said simply 'cos there were actual signboards there, and also 'cos there was a tower sticking out of the vegetation) the night before. Haressh took a tent for the both of us, but it turned out that it was a 5-man tent instead of the 2-man tents meant for the guys. Despite the envy from the rest of getting a larger tent, the both of us found it a nightmare to try and sleep the entire night. The rest didn't seem to be affected.
We were late for breakfast by 10 minutes and that meant that we had to do 500 pushups(50 for every minute). We did 250, and ate our breakfast before setting out for another day of nonstop paddling. I was paired up with Kaikin and we were doing fine until he left me alone on the boat while he paddled away on Huey's cool-looking boat... Fortunately for me, I paddled on until I found a motor** floating around in the ocean! :O I put it on the front on the kayak and soon, I was ahead of some of the others :P
We had lunch in a rather secluded area. After lunch, we watched as the monkeys ran around up on the rocks around us. We saw a particularly large monkey and I named it Big Balls(because... uhhhh... well, read between the lines). It was terrorizing the smaller monkeys and we didn't really like it, but all of us just stood there watching anyway. After awhile, Big Balls opened us his legs and... started peeing.... That made us all laugh nonstop.
After a few more minutes, Big Balls went up behind another monkey and...
SUDDENLY
started
humping
it...
That just made us laugh even harder...
After the "Monkey Porn"(as the senior citizens had named it) drama, we got our kayaks and went into a canyon. Not so grand, and the mangrove swamp was particularly disliked, but when we came out of it we were in a large river. We took a viciously wet photo and paddled to where we had to return the rented kayaks, where some of the guys(including me) grabbed the mini-buckets and started splashing everyone else with the first freshwater we had since the day before. After a few minutes of wild splashing, we loaded our stuff into the lorry-like vehicle and rode it back to the Coconut Home(this time, Huey actually meant it when he said it would "take three minutes"). We did 150 pushups, and Ms Lim said that they would forget about the remaining 100 if we assembled on time at 7:30p.m. for dinner. We savored the first actual bath we had ever since we landed in Krabi and went for dinner. This time, we had to do the cooking ourselves. Eryanah sis cooked for me :P and it was GREAT! There were even thai pancakes, spaghetti and kebabs for us all. BEST. THAI DINNER. EVER!!!!! Then all of us shared our reflections with the rest of the team. It was... fun.
We went to sleep after that. I was unusually happy that night, according to what Kelin had said.
**- Benjamin!!! HAHAHAHA.
Last day of expedition, 27/11/09(Friday)
We woke up early in the morning - 5a.m. - to go to the Deep Water Solo site. We took a boat there, and when we reached the site we started to climb the cliffside. Some of the seniors, Benjamin and Manoj actually made it to the 12m mark - the highest point there. Most of us jumped into the water more than once. It was DAMN FUN~
We went back to the "port" after 3 hours and got changed. We did some shopping, and ate lunch at a more english place XD
After that, went back to the Coconut Home, packed, said bye to the staff at the Home and went to the Phuket international airport. There, we took the plane to Singapore at 8. HOME SWEET HOME.
Cousin's Wedding, 28/11/09(Today)
The moment I went home, I turned the computer on and played from 12+ to 1:30a.m. Then I went to sleep. THE END.
Not.
Woke up at 9 to watch TV(hehe). Then after some preparation, my family and I went to some hotel(Waterfront?) for my cousin's Wedding Lunch. The food was great, and I got to drink champagne and red wine(legally, okay?). After that... went home.
NOW it's the end.
